OFFERINGS

ACTING CLASS Group Scene Study for Stage and Screen

Group Scene Study gives actors an opportunity to explore bringing text to life in a theatrical setting while also experimenting in a comfortable safe space. The class offers each actor the chance to explore the medium they desire to pursue, stage, screen, and television. Intimacy and authenticity, as well as accuracy and commitment to the intricacies of the story are emphasized.

Classes are held Thursday evenings 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm. $240/four week session. Classes must be paid monthly prior to the first of the month.

Register. Pay.

Theatrical material -- Scenes will be chosen for the actors using the highest quality theatrical and screenplay writing to give each actor substantial text and a chance to thoroughly explore their imaginative skills.

Playing pretend -- We work to expand the artist's ability to create imaginary worlds and live believably as the heroes of their own creations in order to affect and move both themselves and the audience into a deeper understanding of our life's condition. We work with intention in the moment, so that our focus is entirely present and outward and never directed toward our own past or our inner emotional state, to create active and viscerally exciting art. Our approach to the craft is inspired by the great Harry Mastrogeorge, Stella Adler, and Terese Hayden. Come play pretend with us.

Safe Space -- For our purposes we will cultivate a safe space for exploration and expansion. The students are encouraged not to comment on each others' work, but to practice a state of non judgement in and after class. The approach being taught is very specific and unusual, and because there are many other approaches that most students have at their behest, comments may be counter-productive to our goals for this experience.
